We were asked by President Erickson to attend and mentor the Matero Ward. We went the first week with the Bodilys, who had been working there and were transferred to the Lusaka Ward. Sister Bodily had been working with the Primary and I went in to help her that first day. Since there was no Primary President called, I just stepped into her shoes in doing Primary work. This was our first Primary class. The children are very bright and know much about the gospel.
Teaching about "If you love me, keep the commandments." Many of the children don't know English since they don't start learning that until they go to school. The older children were a great help in translating for me
Doing an activity on the Sacrament. They love to color and draw!
These two boys, Dixon and Joseph, are investigators with baptism planned in October.
African children, just like children everywhere, are darling!
We tried learning the books of the Book of Mormon. It was rough going. Most Africans are Christian and know their Bible very well. The books of the Book of Mormon are a little difficult for them. But we'll keep working on it.
Bishop Chifunda's granddaughter and niece.
Baptiste is a 17-year-old young man who was called to teach the lessons in their native language of Bemba. I don't know what he's saying, but he has a manual and I assume he is teaching the truth!
Sister G. and Baptiste. He's a great young man and is preparing to serve a mission. So teaching in Primary is good experience for him. Although he probably should really be in with the Aaronic Priesthood group! I'm so glad he's willing to teach and translate for me during music and sharing time.
