Nathan White's Cooking Lessons

Nathan White, one of the recent converts, wanted to learn how to make some American treats.  He wanted to sell them so he could help raise money for his family to go to the temple.  So we went out there several times and taught him how to make carmel popcorn and rice crispie treats.  He got pretty good at making them, but the selling was a little hard.  It's so expensive to buy the ingredients for these treats that he cold not sell them for enough money to make a profit.  So, at least, he knows how to make these things for his family.

It's interesting trying to make American treats on an African charcoal fired stove.  But, it's possible.  And the treats turn out just great. +

I made a cake for Blessing's 16th Birthday. She's a sweetheart and loved the cake.
I made cupcakes for Nathan's and Steven's birthdays.  I forgot the candles so we had to use the candle they use for light when the power goes out.

This is a little African culture of some neighbors of the Whites. It's pretty interesting the things the children can find to play with.  They make cars with walking sticks out of pop cans and soda bottle lids, they make a soccer ball with lots of plastic bags wound together and then they play a game similar to jacks only with rocks.  They also love to roll tires--bike tires, car tires, big tires and little tires.  They LOVE to roll tires!
